Real Customer Story: How We Delivered 20 Tons from Kampala to Gulu in Record Time

In December 2025, we received an urgent call from an international NGO partner: they needed 20 metric tonnes of humanitarian supplies transported from their Kampala warehouse to a distribution centre in Gulu—a distance of approximately 340 kilometres—within 24 hours.

The challenge? It was the peak of the rainy season. Roads through Luwero and Karuma were partially waterlogged, and multiple logistics providers had already declined the job due to the tight timeline.

The Challenge We Faced

The cargo consisted of medical supplies, blankets, and non-perishable food items packed across 400 cartons. Temperature sensitivity for the medical supplies meant we could not afford delays that would expose the cargo to prolonged heat or moisture. The client needed confirmed delivery before 6:00 AM the following morning.

Our Approach

Fleet Selection: We deployed two of our heavy-duty Scania trucks with covered, waterproofed cargo bays. Both vehicles were GPS-tracked with live updates feeding to our dispatch centre and the client's project manager via WhatsApp.

Route Planning: Our experienced drivers selected the optimal route via the Kampala-Gulu Highway, monitoring live traffic and weather data. We pre-arranged a fuel stop at Karuma to minimize downtime.

Loading Efficiency: Our warehouse team in Ntinda loaded both trucks in under 2 hours using our forklift fleet, with careful stacking to prevent shifting during transit.

The Result

Both trucks departed Kampala at 12:00 PM and arrived in Gulu at 5:30 AM the following morning—17.5 hours total, well within the 24-hour deadline. Zero cargo damage was reported. The NGO's distribution programme launched on schedule, reaching over 3,000 families.

Client Feedback: "Noki Logistics showed incredible professionalism and reliability. When other companies said it couldn't be done, Noki delivered—literally. They are now our preferred logistics partner for all Northern Uganda operations." — Project Coordinator, International NGO
